The KFC drive-thru at Forbury Retail Park is known for serving fried chicken, burgers, wraps, drinks and desserts to both dine-in and takeaway customers.
The restaurant is currently open from 11am to 10pm each day, moving to drive-thru until 11pm Monday to Saturday, with 10pm closure on Sundays.
It also does deliveries via JustEat and Uber Eats between 11am and 10.45pm as well.
Now the operators of the KFC want to keep on serving food and soft drinks until 2am each night.
It is understood the restaurant will close at 11pm, with the drive-thru and app deliveries continuing until 2am.
Any business that wants to keep on serving food and drinks between 11pm and 5am overnight needs a late-night refreshment licence.
The application for the later sales has been submitted to Reading Borough Council’s licensing department.
A statutory consultation into the application has begun, which you can respond to by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses will be reached on Tuesday, April 22.
Plans for the drive-thru restaurant were approved in 2015, with the KFC being seen open in 2018.
The construction of the restaurant led to the loss of 56 parking spaces at the retail park, bringing the total to 322 spaces.
It is one of five KFC’s in the town, with the others being located in Friar Street, Shinfield Road, Reading Retail Park in Oxford Road and Reading Gate Retail Park.
