New Reading town centre car rental site approved at Cow Lane

A new car rental site will be built in Reading, at a site formerly previously used by Network Rail.

Reading Borough Council (RBC) has approved the plans for a new Enterprise Rent-A-Car site at land on Cow Lane.

The site was most recently used by Network Rail to build a cycle and pedestrian path next to the new two-lane Cow Lane bridge.

The plans include erecting a modular building, rental vehicle wash bay, and parking for the rental cars.

There will be 50 spaces for cars, although “it will be only on rare occasions that all 50 parking spaces will be in use”, with cars being regularly out for use by customers.

There will no parking available for customers’ own cars, while staff will use rental cars to get to work.

Enterprise is one of the biggest car rental companies in the world, based in 30 countries with over 7,200 locations across the globe.
